I survived

My wisdom teeth are gone, and my cheeks are swollen. I look like a chipmunk. It's difficult to eat. Today I tried to eat some macaroni and cheese, but had so much trouble that I had to puree it just so I could get it down without having to chew. I'm getting my fill of yogurt and oatmeal, that's for sure. I even ate some baby food. I hadn't had that since I was a baby.

When I woke up in the recovery room, the nurse who was talking to me and my mother appeared to have two heads. It was surreal. My mom told me I cried a little, but I have no memory of it.

I haven't felt the need to take any pain pills since this morning, so I guess that's good. I feel sore, but no throbbing pain. I've been putting ice packs on my cheeks to try to reduce the swelling, but I'm not sure it helps.

One of my coworkers told me it's worse on the 3rd and 4th day after the surgery, so that's something to look forward to. Ha ha.

My grandma brought me flowers today, which was very thoughtful. A few people have called me to see how I'm doing, which I really appreciate. Those little things mean a lot.

I can't wait until I can brush my teeth normally again.

Hang in there kid!

I sure hope you feel better soon. I had a lot of applesauce and ice cream after I had my teeth out. Definitely have things pureed for then next day or so. Soups (not too hot, though) with few or no chunks will also help. :) I'll send you a postcard from Scotland (and maybe Alnwick Castle) to cheer you up! :)

Mmmm, baby food! LOL! Poor thing. I'm glad it went ok and hope you can recover with minimal pain. And thanks for reminding me why I don't want to have my wisdom teeth pulled anytime soon! ;o)
